ATLANTA, GA – Essex Furukawa Magnet Wire LLC announced today that Daniel Choi has been appointed as Essex Furukawa Magnet Wire CEO, effective March 1, 2022. Additionally, Mr. Choi will assume the role of CEO for parent company Superior Essex Inc. and its subsidiaries.

Essex Furukawa is ready to take on a sustainable future and is excited for another strong year with mutually beneficial success for our customers. Essex Furukawa is poised for growth with the electrification of vehicles, and Mr. Choi’s experience in the cable and wire manufacturing industry will lead to new growth for every member of the value chain. There is enormous opportunity for Essex Furukawa just ahead, and we look forward to Mr. Choi leading our team and helping Essex Furukawa as well as our customers achieve continued success.

We anticipate that his tenure will help drive Essex Furukawa into the future. Previously, Mr. Choi was associated with LS Cable and System, parent company of Superior Essex Inc., since 1999.  Most recently he served as Regional President, North and South Americas for LS Cable and System and prior in the role of President, LS Cable and System USA for MV and LV Power Cable Systems. The change in leadership resulted from Brian Kim stepping down as CEO for Essex Furukawa Magnet Wire and Superior Essex Inc. and its subsidiaries. Kim served nearly seven years leading the Superior Essex and recent Essex Furukawa teams. His legacy includes breaking down business silos by establishing Core Values and Corporate Culture, increasing production capacity, prioritizing innovation and R&D by launching the MagForceX® Innovation Centers, launching the strategic Essex Furukawa Magnet Wire joint venture, and most recently committing the business to a sustainable future through the Essex Furukawa Vision 2030.

Our team thanks Mr. Kim for his vast contributions to the company and we welcome Mr. Choi as he leads Essex Furukawa into the next decade.

Hyundai To Release 13 Alternative Fuel Vehicles By 2022

Hyundai announced its commitment to introduce 13 alternatively fueled vehicles by 2022, including six sedans and seven SUVs.

Upcoming highlights from this eco-friendly commitment include a refreshed 2020 Ioniq Electric, Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid to be revealed later this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. In addition, the all-new Sonata HEV sedan will be coming next year. The remaining nine eco-focused products will be showcased over the next three years.

“As the automotive industry evolves to meet the needs of a diverse customer base and environmentally-aware society, we will continue to provide alternative-propulsion options in a variety of product choices,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president of Product, Corporate and Digital Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “For consumers seeking forward-thinking and eco-friendly personal transportation options, Hyundai’s product line-up meets these criteria and more.”

Hyundai’s commitment to eco-friendly propulsion leads to improved powertrain efficiencies, particulate-matter contributions and an exceptional level of clean air improvements.
