Tesla Truck Could Price Under $50k

June 12, 2019

It appears as though Elon Musk has realized that affordability is paramount in the adoption of electric vehicles and is making every effort to have Tesla products in a similar range as their fossil fuel competitors.

In his recent Ride the Lightning podcast, Musk revealed that the new truck being produced will continue that trend.

“You should be able to buy a really great truck for $49K or less,” Musk said.

Musk had previously taken to social media to taunt other industry leaders, namely Dodge Ram. In March, in a reply to a user that goes by ‘Dodge Ram Owner’ who was bragging about the ability for his truck to haul 12,000lbs of steel beams, Musk asked, “12,000lbs!? How puny. Do you construct children’s toys?”

The towing capacity is still not announced for the Tesla model, but Musk did say that it would be able to handle 300,000 pounds.

The Tesla truck will be a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive pickup with, according to Musk, ‘crazy torque & a suspension that dynamically adjusts for load’ standard. The range is expected to be between 400 and 500 miles and is set to be officially unveiled sometime later in 2019.

It has also been promised to be able to parallel park automatically due to having 360 degree cameras and sonar as well as have a sci-fi appearance.
